WETEX 2018

24,October,2018

WETEX is a convention held in World Trade Centre to discuss innovations on sustainable development. The students of Grade 11 got the opportunity to participate in the Exhibition. The 5 pods, which were Quality Education, Responsible Production and Consumption, Clean Water and Sanitation, Life Under Water and Zero Hunger, accompanied by Chelliah Sir and Gayathri ma’am , attended this event . We were also accompanied by Mr Hemant Julka , who had earlier conducted seminars on Critical Thinking for us . We had received a talk by Mr Ali Amjed , elaborating on DEWA’s role in promoting responsible electricity and water consumption , highlighting on initiatives taken by the organization to educate households on their monthly usage . He impressed upon the need for sustainable development and how we as the future generation should work towards achieving it . There were multiple stalls by MNC’s like MAN , Tesla , BMW and Wipro presenting their latest inven-tions and projects and explaining their usage and advantages . Moreover , schools such as the Modern Ed-ucation School of Dubai and University of Sharjah had student representatives presenting their ideas and prototypes to the visitors . It was an enriching and interesting event with many exhibits such as a cycle which when in use , could draw circles , keychains made of cycle parts , construction vehicles and an AI programmed to open a bank account . Seeing all of these , we were really inspired to come up with our own ideas in regards to this topic. We are extremely grateful to be able to attend this event and have gotten exposure and aid from the exhib-itors and visitors in moving forward with our sustainable plans which we intend to implement in school in the near future . We would like to thank Maktoum Ali and his father for coordinating this and providing us with this oppor-tunity . Gauri Parvati 11B
